X-Cite® Live Cell Imaging & Fluorescence Microscopy

As the name indicates, live cell imaging involves studying live cells (mostly cultured cells) or tissue through various fluorescence microscopy techniques. These cells are made to fluorescently express the protein of interest (via expression, e.g. GFP, YFP, or staining with DAPI, DRAQ, pH and Ca++ probes). Studying cells in this manner is an excellent tool to monitor protein trafficking, signal tranduction and protein interactions. The biggest challenges in this technique include reducing the photobleaching effects on fluorophores and minimizing the phototoxic effects of light on sample viability. The X-Cite® solutions enable you to control lamp intensity to best suit your experimental setup. Light delivery via a liquid light guide, and effective cooling prevents vibrational artifacts and experimental interruptions caused by these factors.

X-Cite® will assist in your live cell imaging & fluorescence microscopy through:

  • Reduced photobleaching
  • Increased cell viability
  • Vibration-free experiments
  • Happy Cells - better viability (when compared with a traditional HBO lamp)
  • Time-Lapse Imaging
